FAQ

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive facial treatment which gently and painlessly removes dead skin cells and vellus hair also known as "peach fuzz". It is a method of exfoliation which results in better skincare absorption and makeup application.

Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

The short answer is NO. This is a MYTH! Dermaplaning in no way interferes with the follicular structure of fine vellus hair, thus having no effect on hair growth rate and texture.

Why is dermaplaning good for the skin?

Dermaplaning helps aid the rejuvenation of new skin cells by promoting cellular turnover whilst increasing collagen and elastin fibers. It removes the layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair which can often trap dirt and bacteria causing breakouts.

How often should I be dermaplaning my face?

It really does depend on you. Experts in the field recommend dermaplaning as often or as little as you prefer. Some customers prefer to dermaplane weekly for maintenance, whilst others dermaplane every 3-4 weeks as needed. Touching up your upper lip before a night out doesn't hurt!

Does dermaplaning hurt?

Dermaplaning should NOT hurt. If it does, you are doing it incorrectly. The correct and safest way to painlessly and effectively dermaplane is to; cleanse the skin and pat dry, add any facial oil of choice, pull the skin taut and glide the blade at a 45 degree angle in a downward motion following the direction of hair growth. When dermaplaning, you should never go against the grain.
